2009 Scholarship Awarded

American Polish Council of Long Island has awarded the 2009 scholarship during the "Polish Night" held in Eisenhower Park. The 2009 recipient was Stefania Sokolowski from Massapequa attending Boston University

LEON YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The scholarship was orginated in 1964 in memory of Mr. Leon Young who was the founder of the American Polish Council of Long Island. Leon Young was a true leader to the Polish community and APCLI continues to honor him by continuing to award the scholarship annually to deserving students.

If you know of a student interested in applying for a partial scholarship who meets the following criteria, please have him/her complete the application below and forward it to APCLI.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

The principal purpose of the Leon Young Scholarship is to further a student's education. The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

    • Student must be a graduating senior in high school and has been accepted to undergraduate school.
    • Student must reside on Long Island, New York.
    • Student must be of Polish descent and demonstrate an interest and/or involvement in the Polish Community.
    • Student must provide a short essay describing interests, goals, hobbies, and awards.

A $1000 minimum award will be made.

The scholarship will be awarded during Polish Night at Eisenhower Park.
